The mast was installed around 1970 and I remember seeing it being worked on around 1990 but since then no maintenance has been done on it. Government own it and Bluesky maintain it. Anyway, it is a hazard at the moment as sections of it are rusting and so it needs to come down. It will affect our radio service reach. We have FM around the island and in the Outer Islands via the Government but the reach is not that good. I think radio is kind of like a low priority for anyone these days. The AM has been useful in that in can reach all the way to Penrhyn.“ [Adrian Sainsbury-RNZI via New Zealand Radio DX League] The Matavera transmitter site was decommissioned in August 2019, replaced by FM, but 630 AM service was later restored from an old standby 1 kW transmitter located at Black Rock on the Island of Rarotonga, October 18, 2019.

AFAN McMurdo

Ice FM by AFAN (American Forces Antarctic Network)

Was machst du dort unten in deiner Freizeit?

Was jagen DJs also 10 Meilen über das Schelfeis?
