The Station was founded in Fort-de-France thru two private Persons October 1937.

Transmitting time was daily 3 1/2 hours on 9700/ 9705 khz, program Languages French, Spanish & English plus News in German! During Worldwar II was a break between 1940 and 1943. After restart and end of the war 1945 was the station taken over summer 1945 by the French Government and renamed „RDF Martinique“. Later name changes followed (RTF, ORTF, FR3, RFO Martinique). In the year 1999 was the „new“ old name: Radio Martinique, until 2010. Then the final name was born: Martinique 1.– In the meantime shortwave broadcasting was canceled during the 1970-ies (last frequencies were 3315 and 5995 khz), but transmitting on mediumwave 1310 khz and later on FM was done, with mainly classical music.

Nowadays is „RFO Martinique 1“ via DAB+ and Webradio available,

with all types of caribbean music and a few international Hits.
