Kurz nach der Gründungsphase des Rhein-Main-Radio-Clubs -RMRC, früher RMRK- gab ich ein Mitteilungsblatt (damals noch ohne Titel und im Umwälzkopierverfahren) heraus, in dem die neuesten Empfänge notiert waren. In diesen frühen Zeiten traf man sich noch in Neu-Isenburg in einer Hotelgaststätte. Aus diesen losen Blättern entstand später das RMRC-Cluborgan „aktuell“. An die dortigen Treffen erinnere ich mich bis heute sehr gerne. —

SWL ist der ‚Short-Wave Listener‚

Diejenigen Kurzwellenhörer, die sich nicht als Fernhörer (DX-er), sondern als SWL bezeichnen, hören überwiegend Funkamateure – ohne selbst zu senden. Als SWL besteht die Möglichkeit, das Hobby Kurzwelle sehr ernsthaft mit eigenem Call (Kennzeichen) auszuüben und sich beim größten deutschen Funkverein, dem DARC, kostenpflichtig registrieren zu lassen. Man kann zum „Empfangsmeister“ aufsteigen.

Es ist jedoch auch möglich, sich ein möglichst einprägsames SWL-Kennzeichen (kein DARC-Rufzeichen!) selbst auszudenken und in eigenen Vordrucken oder Webseiten zu benutzen !
